A pair of blue and bloodshot eyes opens slowly. Squinting at the bright lights, Roger Lenox is surprised to find that he's trapped in a sterile chamber of stone with a single wall of glass.
He is even more shocked to find a skullcap attached to the top of his head with an umbilical of wires that runs to a semi-spherical fixture at the center of the ceiling.
Frantic, he attempts to remove the appendage but is admonished by Dr. Grazer that doing so would result in immediate death. When he refuses to heed the warnings, Dr. Grazer has his assistant sedate Roger. For it is sleep that Roger so desperately needs if he's ever going to recover from his damaged memory.
But more important than sleep are his dreams; a fractured, hodge-podge of images and moments of his life reveal the events that led Roger to this formidable chamber.
However, Roger is more interested in immediate answers, such as where is he and who is he, which elude him since he is unable to speak. Dream after confusing dream slowly reveal that there is much more at stake than just Roger's memory. And as Roger's sessions with Dr. Grazer become more probative, Roger begins to suspect the very person that he depends on the most.
And if Roger's inability to remember wasn't enough, he's compelled by the repeated pleas from a beautiful woman in and of his dreams for help. This woman's needs slowly supplant Roger's own desires for answers until he realizes that she is the very reason he is in this predicament.
While Roger attempts to reassemble his memories, he is sporadically visited by a Strange Man, who warns him not to trust what he sees and that where he is isn't what it appears to be.
But soon Dr. Grazer and the Strange Man reveal themselves to be only interested in Roger regaining a very specific memory, one piece of information that would doom Roger, the beautiful woman whom Roger loves and thousands of people just like them.
So where is Roger, exactly? And how did this beautiful woman condemn Roger to this miserable existence? And frankly, what is "The System"?
The answers to these questions are almost as frightening as the fact that we are all closer to being "In the System" than any of us realize.

I really liked reading "In The System." At first I was a little skeptical because I don't normally read books with a Sci-Fi theme. Once starting the book, I was pleasantly surprised. The book has a very good plot line and kept me turning pages as fast as I could read them. The ending left some unanswered questions for me, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the book is going to be a series. I can't wait for the next book to be written, so that I can find out more about Roger and Judy's life in the system!Product details

In the System eBook Charles Scalfani Reviews
the book The system was a very interesting book that i could not stop reading. this book had a great plot and the ending made me sad that the book ended but thankfully theres going to be a series. there is no doubt in my mind why i gave this book 5 stars
I might be mad but... I found it easy to relate to the characters in the system. Along with the high suspense nature of the novel (Which I greatly appreciate as I find most novels too slow and drawn out, almost yelling at the pages to get to the point), somehow the characters, and Roger in particular remind me a lot of people I know and times in my life. Particularly the scenes involving Grazer, as I spent most of my childhood trying to get teachers and doctors to listen, so the frustration I picked up from reading the chapters really hit a note. I also found the physical layout easy to read, as it reads like half novel, half play or news script (the area I work in).
All In all a thoroughly enjoyable read, and certainly worth the Price. I don't want to give away too much, as Dr River Song in Dr Who would say "Spoilers". But trust me, you could easily enjoy an afternoon or evening relaxing with a glass of wine, whiskey or even a pint of cider and just get stuck in and lose track of everything.
Prepare to have your mind warped. This book is just spectacular. I am very happy that I read this book. This book has a more Cyberpunk feel to it than Sci-fi feel. A major part of the plot and storyline is more than one moral and/or ethical dilemma that we either face today or will probably face in the future. The more you think about the book after reading it the more implications you can see. The building of the climax is slow at first but it really ramps up at the end where revelation after revelation hit one after the other leading to the a spectacular conclusion that is going to leave you the kind of stunned that will make sit you down and say "Holy @#%$"; especially if you like moral/ethical dilemmas, if you like to try to figure out things before they revealed by clues given in the book, Possibilities that the future could have, and are a fan of Inception, The Matrix, Repo Men, and "Altered Carbon" by Richard K. Morgan. The book is a little short and at times a little confusing but it is however a very strong first entry into the literary world. Well worth the investment of time and money to read it.
This book is so intense, i normally dont read books, but man this one was a good book. Hey is has a good plot and great story. Its well worth it and its only 3 bucks i highly recommend this book to everyone.
